Maximising conservation through collaboration

A number of organisations have contributed to the creation of the FairWild initiative. These include the developers of the International Standard for Sustainable Wild Collection of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (ISSC-MAP) - the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN), TRAFFIC, WWF, and IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) - and those creating the original FairWild Standard v 1.0 - namely SIPPO (the Swiss Import Promotion Programme) in cooperation with Forum Essenzia e.V. and IMO (Institute for Marketecology).

FairWild Foundation currently maintains partnerships and collaborations with a number of organisations that have aligned missions. These co-operations support delivery of various aspects of the Foundation's work programme. They include:

WWF

WWF's mission is to stop the degradation of our planet's natural environment, and build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. WWF is strategically focusing on conserving critical places and priority species that are particularly important for their habitat or for people. They are also working to reduce humanity's ecological footprint – the amount of land and natural resources needed to supply our food, water, fibre and timber, and to absorb our CO2 emissions.

Wildlife Friendly Enterprise NEtwork

The Wildlife Friendly Enterprise Network conserves threatened wildlife while contributing to the economic vitality of rural communities. The WFEN mission is to protect wildlife in wild places by certifying enterprises that assure people and nature coexist and thrive. FairWild Foundation and WFEN promote the concurrent implementation of both organizations' standards where appropriate, and are exploring other avenues of collaboration.
